BurglaryWhat is Burglary?

Burglary is committed by any person who enters a building or part of a building, as a trespasser with the intent to steal anything in the building, inflict grievous bodily harm on any person inside or commit criminal damage.

Burglary is a despicable crime. Not only are your most valuable possessions taken, but the emotional shock of having your property invaded can be deeply traumatic and distressing. Most burglaries are committed by opportunist thieves and in 1 in 3 cases, burglars get in through unlocked doors and windows. Once a home has been burgled, research shows that it is likely to be targeted within a few days. It is therefore, important to ensure victims receive professional advice from police on how to protect their property against repeat burglaries.

Although the number of burglaries is falling in Cheshire they still occur far too often than we would like. The challenge remains and Cheshire Constabulary is determined to reduce the number of victims by arresting offenders; ensuring residents are given the right crime prevention advice and improving the security of vulnerable homes.
